本片为《胡斯党三部曲》（Hussite trilogy）首部曲。是由奥塔卡·瓦夫拉（Otakar Vavra，著名导演，1963年后任布拉格电影学院教授，早年参加“左翼阵线”，属于受当局信任的“老同志”，南斯拉夫大导演库斯图里卡的恩师）导演。扬·胡斯，15世纪要求宗教改革的新教传教士，后被提天主教会烧死，他的信徒们之后掀起了长达十八年的宗教战争。本片所述的故事发生在1412年5月至1415年夏天。

Prague at the end of the 14th century: King Wenceslas, his brother Sigismund, the Archbishop of Prague Zbynek and three popes are locked in a power struggle. All lay claim to influence over the Holy See. Jan Hus, a master of Charles University and preacher, feels partly responsible for the fate of the divided church and its faithful, for whom it serves as a role model. He thus attracts the resentment of the powerful. "Jan Hus" is the story of a man who, because of his convictions, faced death in the battle between the opinions and ambitions of ecclesiastical and secular authorities.

Jan and Vanessa's first dates are hit and miss.

Set in the conservative world of the 1950s, Jan checks into a hotel seeking to escape the outside world. Once alone, they are free to shed the identity society has imposed upon them. Jan embraces the chance to explore who they truly believe they are. As they relish this new identity, a surge of confidence emerges, but they soon realize that not everything is as it seems. Faced with a choice between internal pressures and embracing their authentic self, Jan takes a bold step forward.

The bridegroom Jan Kaspar is an officer in the Klement Gottwald's Nová Hut rolling-mill. After bidding farewell to his freedom, he accidentally takes a sip from the bottle of tetrachlore which he stores at home. He disregards the dizziness, but the next day, he faints in the factory and has a brain concussion. During her regular tests, doctor Dudková is shocked by a high percentage of residual nitrogen found in Kaspar's blood. Doctor Bohácek, with whom Dudková consults, thinks that it is a liver disease and informs the head physician Filip. The doctors know nothing about tetrachlore and are in the dark about the case. Despite that, they immediately start to fight for Kaspar's life and their struggle consequently affects their personal lives.

本片根据雾社事件史实改编。 　　1895年，《马关条约》割让中国台湾之后，日本遂即武力接收，宝岛各地纷纷被攻破。而山区因道路不通，原住民生活尚暂未受影响，雾社地区的赛德克人之中，马赫坡年轻一代的莫那鲁道（游大庆 饰）英勇过人，率族群与甘卓万人争斗不休。日人垂涎雾社地区的 丰富资源，试图染指但遭到赛德克人强烈抵抗，伤亡惨重，然终于借原住民族群之间的互相仇杀侵入了雾社。莫那鲁道只得忍辱投降，但心中的火苗从未熄灭。时间推至1930年，日本对于雾社原住民的“文明改造”历经多年，日语等所谓文明并未给予原住民平等的生活，日人的欺压和繁重劳作侵蚀着赛德克人的传统和尊严，多年的愤怒累积，终于在这一年全面喷发！

一场中国台湾人民奋起反抗日寇屠杀的血性斗争，取材于中国台湾抗日真实历史事件。 1930年，中国台湾人民在日本侵略者的压迫与掠夺中忍辱求生，文化与尊严被肆意践踏。当欺辱越过底线，一场注定悲壮的抗争终被点燃——普通民众放下生计，以血肉之躯对抗武装到牙齿的侵略者，用最壮烈的方式捍卫家园与尊严。

Salih was shot with a rifle in the forest where he went hunting with his friend Metin. Salih, who had to live with bullets in his brain, needs both material and spiritual help to heal.
